Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She is the author of fifteen books, and she is co-founder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington has worked as a journalist, TV personality, philanthropist and author for over ten years. She also is the founder of The Huffington Post, an independent, liberal online newsmagazine. She moved from Greece to England aged 16 where she earned an MA from Cambridge University in Economics. In her 21st year, she was president of the famed debate society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student to do so. Her success as a conservative journalist was further consolidated when she finished her degree. After the launch of The Huffington Post a few year later, she established an online voice portal that offered critical opinions on the state of the nation's politics. It was her celebrity that led to the recruitment of a number of prominent contributors to share their views on current events, politics and culture. Arianna became famous in 2003 after she decided to stand as an independent candidate for the California recall election in order to succeed the Governor Davis. Alongside this, she directed a Detroit project to promote fuel efficient cars. She was named The Most Influential Women in Media according to Forbes in 2009, gaining the 12th place in that list. In the same year Guardian named her on the 100 most influential media on their list. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post, and she became the president of this group. This included many AOL properties at the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and management consultant Konstantinos as well as his spouse Elli Stasinopoulos. Even though she was close with father, her relationship with her mother shaped the rest of her life. At a young age, she displayed the leadership abilities for which she's still known. As a 16-year-old her family moved to England in the United Kingdom for her higher education. She attended Girton College Cambridge. As a student, she joined the Cambridge Union, a college debating club. As the third woman president, and also the first foreigner she served as the head of Cambridge Union. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. After graduation, she began working as a critic for a newspaper column and an anchor on TV. She was on the show with Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she started writing her own books with his aid.
