April Ross
April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. She is among a few female players of beach volleyball that be able to do so. Ross will compete in Tokyo for her third Olympic medal with Alix Klineman, who is a first-time Olympian. Ross's aim is to get her first Olympic gold medal. Since she's 39 years old and has a long way to go, this could be her last chance. Still confident, however. Ross declared on NBC Boston: "If we do our best and even if we just play well I'm sure we'll win the gold medal." This is also a matter of chance. Ross was born on August 22nd, 1982 at Costa Mesa California. She resided in the area together with her parents. Ross played in numerous sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. She competed in basketball and track, in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements as a pre-collegiate athlete. In the last sport she was clearly the standout. During her high school career she was a middle blocker outside hitter and setter at the tennis court, according to her college bio. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the national Player in 1999. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Year award in 2000. Ross and Klineman have been performing their roles since 2017. However, Ross was an important player in the beach volleyball scene before joining the duo. As a matter of fact Ross has won a number of important tournaments throughout her career along with her two teammates. One of them is a legend. Ross teamed up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman's coach. Kessy and Ross were a formidable force in the world circuit, winning the 2009 World Championship with each other. This duo went into winning a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. The Misty Maytreanor legendary team along with Kerri Jennings took home the gold. It was fate that had them. Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. They went on to compete for the bronze beach volleyball medal at Rio Olympics in 2016 along with Walsh Jennings. Following high school, and for a few many years before hitting the sand as a pro Ross was a ball for the USC Trojans as an NCAA. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was amazing. When she was a freshman in 2000, her play earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA the Freshman of the Year award. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans get to their first Final Four. In her sophomore year, she was devastated by a personal loss but still managed to be a second All-American. The two years following her, she took the Trojans up to the summit and clinched consecutive national championships. As an individual, she established herself as an all-time legend having won the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross was a student of International Relations at USC. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie was not able to witness her daughter ascend to the highest levels of beach volleyball stardom. Ross suffered the loss of her mom to cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She continues to cherish her parents who passed away. Margie is an inspiration on and off of the shore.
