Zoe Saldana (born June 19 1978) was the daughter of Asalia Saldana & Aridio Saldana in Passaic New Jersey. Her father was Dominican and her mother is Puerto Rican. She was raised by her mother in Queens. After she turned 10, she and her parents relocated to the Dominican Republic. They lived in the Dominican Republic for seven more years. While living there, Zoe discovered a keen interest in performance dance and started her studies at the prestigious ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy in which she was taught ballet and other dance forms.
