Zoe Saldana was born on the 19th of June, 1978, in Passaic, New Jersey, to Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. Both her parents are both Puerto Ricans. She was raised by her mother who lived in Queens. In 2010, she relocated with her family to the Dominican Republic where they spent the next 7 years. Zoe's interest in dance was spurred by the time they were living in the Dominican Republic. Zoe started her dance education at ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy.
